Chic Daytime Events
I’m more of a boozy lunch gal myself… But let’s keep it chic.
DAY TIME events and celebrations
I don’t know if this has ever not been a thing - but it is making a comeback! And if it hasn’t been a thing, it should be!
Daytime gatherings and celebrations are super versatile in look and feel - you can glam it up (think about the dress code for Polo, Races, high tea..) - or keep it simple, elegant and delicious. The brief here was to create something fresh, light, and casual - it was tied to a week-long celebration marathon/retreat and a bit of “downtime” was exactly what the group needed for the final sprint.
The creative team added a lot of fresh green elements and texture - which had a cheeky touch on the food theme of the day. While it was super-considered and styled, it was relaxed enough to have people think you did it yourself. (***Probably the worst thing to say as part of a brief to a creative or florist - “it has to give a WOW, but it needs to look as if the host did it herself…” Mmm kay.. 😅 BUT - as long as the team understands it’s about you, not us, we can create anything!)
It’s worth mentioning - not all at-home celebrations would be a big ‘shindig’ - but sometimes you have to step up your game and really dig into the occasion!
HOST AT HOME
(Do host at home)… but make it memorable with priceless entertainment. An unconventional keepsake of a live painter that was a huge highlight at the B40 closing Sunday. People always wonder about live art, it comes across as passive entertainment - but guests loved checking in throughout the day to see the progress. It’s a huge talking point with a bit of long-term anticipation of the finished product. Also, such a thoughtful gift that was given here to the host from family. I 10/10 recommend to gifting a live painter to the guy who has it all. (**We all have those friends or family members, we all hate to shop for them - this is it!)
Classic entertainment would always be live food stations - highlighting local traditions, and customs or introducing new flavour pairings. It’s a personal favourite option and foundation piece I like to work with; food is a must at any gathering, so why not optimise this element and create something special!
NATURAL LIGHT
I’m forever a fan of daytime gatherings, long (sometimes boozy) lunches are always a hit and a sure way to get everyone comfortable quickly. It’s a bit of a tradition in South Africa, and dubbed as a “wit wyn Sondag” spent with close family and friends. Any time of day is a good time to celebrate (or open champagne.. Such a versatile beverage - mimosa, afternoon high tea toast, evening celebration… 😉) but never underestimate the power of a brunch or lunch set-up. It’s such a blank canvas timeslot to create any look and feel you’d want to celebrate just about anything on the calendar - and the bonus is if the party is good, you have till sunrise to celebrate…
OR - if you’d like to be in bed by 9 - sunset will call it a day!
Win-win! 🥂
DAY OR NIGHT
Either one - I’m here for it!
